Yesterday, I sent out a Valentine’s Day newsletter to all those of you who are privileged enough to be subscribed to it.
I thought it was a good one, started off well, conveyed some amusing information and got people thinking about how they can do things differently online this year.
I opened with this short little intro:

which managed to cause offence to some guy on my mailing list named Louis who unsubscribed leaving this as his reason for unsubscribing:
Unfortunately I do not find the content uplifting nor of good taste.
So of course I thought, "OMIGOD WHAT THE HECK DID I WRITE TO OFFEND THIS MAN!!!???"
I wrote back:
What specifically do you object to?
And got this reply:
a comment like "wishing everyone got laid" is not a lifestyle I subscribe to and therefore do not want to subject myself to. Everyone is free to choose his or her own lifestyle but in the last 8 years I have learned that sex is precious and not to be treated like a sport.
So then I says to dat anal muthafukka:
What if you’re married? Is it "okay" to get laid then?
And dat nigga shouts right back:
Richard, you want to chat, give me your number and I will call you.
Den I tell him straight:
Sure. My contact numbers are in my sig at the bottom of my emails to you.
But really, if you want to unsubscribe (for whatever reason) it’s okay with me. You’ve already most likely received a message to that effect (that you’ve been unsubscribed).
My little quip was meant to be taken lightly as humour rather than a serious suggestion to go out and shag willy-nilly. I expect people to take it as that. People in relationships often take Valentine’s Day as an occasion to have a romantic evening which might include making love to one another.
And den he totally gives it all up and surrenders his black ass to me and says:
Thanks Richard, I accept your explanation.
What a mofo!
