Another in our series about Lovely Crime Free Britain

Yes, I know you’ve all heard the stories: South Africa is so full of crime, that the only sane recourse is to run away to dear old England where the Queen will keep you safe.
O RLY?
Before you terrified little people all run like a herd of stampeding pigs for Britain, please read this article:
Teenagers attack police officers who asked girl to pick up litter
Ja, so two cops axed (sic) a teenie girl ever so nicely to pick up her damn trash, and the next moment, they were surrounded by 30 aggressive teenies and two Limey men aged in their 30s who set about giving them two Limey coppers a thorough beating up.
Oh god, I would love to see this whole scene suddenly and magically transported to New York City, and then ten minutes later, do the body count.
Very funny article. I loved it. I especially loved the Limey commenter (on the article) writing from Russia telling ‘em that he moved out of Britain 30 years ago when he saw how the place was going. Get this, he fled Limey land for Russia in 1978! He preferred the Communist USSR over Britain. Hahaha!
And poor deluded South Africans are running TO Britain to escape crime, when for the past 30 years, Limeys have been running AWAY from Britain because of the crime.
That’s the problem with us South Africans – always at least 10 years behind everyone else.

Great to see you posting more often again…that whole nasty bs from the Afrikaners bored me ….
Anyway, just thought about the same topic earlier on today…and well i can just say this. In my country,Namibia, I have worked all over. And working for the Justice system didn’t help a lot.
I digress…
What I want to say is that in Britain they get upset about knife crime of about 50 incidents per year(in London). Whilst here it is quite a common thing. Lets not even hold out for the end of the month when it is a big party of 60 stab victims.
So, in one way I can understand the fear in some people. However…those trying to get out are the ones who are least effected by everyday crime.
My 2 cents -

July 20th, 2008 at 11:36If I had to leave the country it would be for economic reasons or maybe a nice job opportunity. My decision to leave would not be based on the crime statistics. As you said, there are problems of this nature all over, so why change one set of problems for another.

July 20th, 2008 at 21:38@Dre: Thanks for your support. I think what is becoming obvious is that the Limeys have become a nation of whiners and cowards, preferring to run from problems instead of staying to fight.
And that is why the United States is a better country than Britain, because Americans are strongly patriotic which is something I admire greatly about them.
Most of the scum bags running from this country are Limeys. Fortunately for me, I am a Scot, so the less English, the better!

July 22nd, 2008 at 17:38That’s just an isolated hooligan incident. So the pommy cops are soft, big deal. At least people there don’t have to worry about being killed for their cellphone or car. I also don’t see the British hooligans running around necklacing ‘foreigners’.
There is also good reason why we are called the rape capital of the world.
In South Africa, one in four girls faces the prospect of being raped before her 16th birthday, according to the child support group, Childline South Africa.
Each and every day in South Africa, at least 50 children are victims of rape. (South African Press Association, June 2005)
There no point in trying to downplay the unusually high rate of violent crime in SA, Europe’s rates pale in comparison. -

July 26th, 2008 at 22:31Wow Marko!
50 Girls X 365 = OUT OF CONTROL !!!!
Why am I not reading that all the Mothers have banded together to protect their children !!!
What kind of spineless justic system does SA have??? I was thinking of moving there to work for Eskom but perhaps I should stay in the States.
Maybe I should become a handgun and ammo supplier to all the Mothers – bet that would subdue your rape issues.
Sounds as though extreme measures are necessary to correct the mindset of the males in SA.
Damn! -

Yep, except that the powers that be make it extremely difficult here for a law abiding citizen to protect oneself. Killing an attacker in self defence will result in immediate arrest and a murder charge. I won’t even go into what happens to people in our police cells.
It is now quite difficult to legally own a firearm in SA while the murdering bastard criminals can purchase an AK-47 assault rifle with ammunition on the black market for a few USD.

July 28th, 2008 at 18:30@Marko: Have you ever been arrested and held?
I’ve had that pleasure twice and come out unscathed.
It’s not as bad as some people imagine.
I’ve read media reports of a man being killed in a holding cell and also of an hysterical middle aged woman who couldn’t deal with incarceration.
It’s not pleasant, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s a bit like being on summer camp – you build up a camaraderie with your fellow accused, and in the end everyone is advising others what will happen (in court) and what you should say.

From your photo you look too old to emigrate even for economic reasons. Better that you stay where you are in SA. The department of social security will take good care of you in your twighlight years. Heh heh!

July 30th, 2008 at 00:55Um, yes I have had the ‘pleasure’ some years ago and I’d hardly liken it to summer camp.
There are plenty of cases of people being raped, assaulted and murdered in police cells. I have friends who have been badly beaten while in custody (by cops and fellow inmates).
Would you really feel a sense of camaraderie with a bunch of murderers and rapists Richard? Please…

July 30th, 2008 at 01:06@Marko: Perhaps I’ve just been lucky but both times I managed to meet up with fairly decent company.
Not everyone in custody is a murderer and / or a rapist. There’s a lot more people in for minor stuff like DUI, drug possession, drug dealing, theft, malicious damage to property etc.
I never felt threatened and I easily became on friendly terms with some of the guys there. My kind of scum, I guess.
Actual jail, of course, is different.
