Steers new Schalk Burger burger
Posted on November 30th, 2007 by Richard Catto 3,279 views
Have you seen the latest Steers advert on TV?
It features Schalk Burger standing at the flame grill and flipping a burger patty so hard and high that it literally brings the roof down.
The pay off line is that Schalk Burger can’t work at Steers but they can name a burger after him.
Kinda corny, I’m sure you agree, but it seems to have struck the South African funny bone, and people are talking about it, like here for example.
So have any of my readers purchased the Steers Schalk Burger burger meal yet? And if so, how do you rate it?
Steers, as some of you may know, is my absolute fav fab burger joint!
I think I would be happier still, though, if their next advert features a BLACK South African Sports Hero, because, Black is Beautiful people!

The Ultimate FREE Music site – songza.com
Posted on November 28th, 2007 by Richard Catto 3,870 views
Remember Napster? Free music downloads for a brief moment in time back in 1999 / 2000. Until the RIAA got its filthy legal hands on Napster, it was the music site to go to. You could get anything you liked for FREE.
And then the fuckwits shut it down and up popped all the pay music sites all sticking their grubby little paws out for $0.99 a track.
Screw ‘em. I’ve never paid any of ‘em a red cent.
Back in the early 90s when I worked in the centre of Cape Town, I’d spend many a lunch break rushing from one music shelf to another in all the competing stores trying to find the cheapest price for the CD I wanted.
I’d end up spending about R150 per CD, which was waaay more than I ever wanted to spend. I would have been a lot more comfortable with a price tag of R50, even more so with R30 or R20. Yeah, R20 is what I am / was prepared to spend for one album of music. That’s what I consider a music album is worth to me – R20. That’s about three US dollars.
Over the course of about four years, I must have spent easily over R2000 on music. Money that could have been much better employed on whores, rent boys and drugs, the fuckers!
Meet Aza Raskin, the brilliant and absolutely gorgeous looking young man behind songza.com, where you can listen to (but not download) any music you like on demand.
Last.fm is cool, but you cannot decide precisely what you want to listen to at any one time, so to me, it’s a useless and frustrating experience.
If I want to listen to Midnight Oil’s Beds Are Burnin, then dammit, I want to listen to Beds Are Burnin’ and not some suitable substitute that last.fm will inevitably throw up.
Well, accept no substitute, bitches, fucking get your arses over to songza.com and listen to whatever you like whenever you like.
To me, it doesn’t really matter that I can’t download it, because I’m on DSL. I guess if you’re on dialup, you’re pretty much screwed because the bandwidth demands alone make this application beyond your reach. Upgrade fool!
But, sweet Mary and Joseph, is this guy Aza gorgeous or what!?

The cockpit of the Aptera features its unique "Eyes Forward" system. Instead of side and rearview mirrors, the Aptera has cameras whose picture is shown on a screen showing a full 180 degrees rearview, enabling you to see what’s behind and to the side of you without ever taking your eyes off the road ahead. A unqiue safety advance!
The Aptera is currently being developed in California, United States and is not yet available to the public. Residents of California are, however, able to reserve their own personalised Aptera with a $500 fully refundable deposit. Details available on their web site: aptera.com
The Aptera is a tricycle with 2 wheels in front for stability. It is rear wheel driven and steered. The Aptera is registered as a motorcycle in California.
The Aptera’s feature list:
- Driver and passenger side Airbags. The Aptera’s seatbelts have a unique advanced airbag in a seatbelt technology.
- Energy absorbing and impact deflecting passenger Safety Cell
- Advanced drive computer with GPS navigation, CD/MP3/DVD player, XM satellite radio, Large View Rear Camera, and complete vehicle diagnostic system
- "Eyes Forward" vision system with 180 degree rear sight picture displayed in the driver’s field of view to enhance situational awareness
- LED interior and exterior lighting for maximum energy efficiency
- Solar assisted Climate Control System so you always enter a comfortable Aptera that is never too hot or cold
- And an RFID(Radio Frequency ID) key fob so you never have to pull out your keys to enter or start your Aptera. The key fob simply remains in your pocket or purse.
Watch this video to see how it drives:
Just add wings and this thing might just fly! It looks like a light aircraft without its wings.
I want one!
